Noopiming

This darkly beautiful work combines the nature photography of Dale Klous with the pure a cappella voices of Mike Olson's strikingly transcendental choral piece, Noopiming. It's a journey into the heart of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, but not as we might think of it today. The images used in this piece were all shot in the BWCA, but any signs of human activity have been scrupulously avoided. The only exception being the opening image of an ancient native american pictograph. The combined affect of the music and imagery is one of a beautiful primordial wilderness of dense forests and untouched pristine lakes.  Not a weekend up at the lake kind of beauty, but rather a powerful, wild, perhaps even dangerous beauty that if you're not careful, could swallow you whole, not leaving a trace.
