This piece was commissioned by the contemporary concert music ensemble Zeitgeist. It was one of a number of pieces they commissioned to celebrate their 30th anniversary. This was another of my fragment pieces. I recorded each of the musicians separately performing a variety of improvisational gestures. I then edited that material and constructed the finished piece in the computer using the various musical fragments a source material.

I also asked each of the performers a question and recorded their responses. The question was . . . "What is it about good music that makes it good?" The finished piece makes use of fragments taken both from their instrumental performances as well as from their verbal comments in answer to this question.
